Congrats, Vic and Czari!

Baptism was cool. (I mean that literally. The water was freezing!) Now I have plus-Baptism Credits, so I won’t need to get baptized at any other Bible Baptist churches again. So unless Reformed churches require an extra sprinkling, I think I’ve gotten my denominational baptism bases covered — including my own Roman Catholic baptism as a baby. ^^,

Afterwards, I joined Ada, Shirley, and Butch for the two hour drive to Clark Airbase, and we attended a very happy wedding — followed by a very good buffet reception at Holiday Inn. I got to meet a lot of old friends, made a rather egregious social faux pas, and got home so exhausted I didn’t even have the energy to shower before dropping into bed.

I spent the morning defrosting the freezer with a large knife. Now I urgently need to make an AFDB. (Thanks for the tip, Doug! Those psychotronic beams will never get me now…)

Immersed Today.

Today I’m getting baptized at Berean Bible Baptist, the church I’ve been attending with my girlfriend and her family. I had been baptized some years ago in our previous church at GCF, but that’s not officially recognized by this establishment (y’know, bein’ B’ah’ble Baptist and all), so I’m going through this as a formality, if you will.

Yes, full immersion. I’m not such a stickler for full immersion as most Baptists usually are, but then, I’m not going to raise a dispute standing waist-deep in the pool at the front of the sanctuary. Just let them dunk me, and I’m a member. There we go.

I’ll be in swimming trunks. ;) No one will know, since there’s a private dressing room for baptizees, and we leave and re-enter it in our baptism robes, but under the robe, I’ll be in wildly-colored Hawaiian trunks completely inappropriate for such a solemn occasion. Heh heh.

Having read my share of Reformed literature (thanks to all you Presblogterians :) I do have several concerns regarding specific Baptist foibles, but I’ve spoken with the pastor (he’s American, by the way) concerning this, and he’s okay, so long as these can be discussed in a sensitive, non-contentious manner. I’ll post my theological issues some other time for everyone to discuss.

Then, after morning service, I’m going to a friend’s wedding at Clark, the former US military base to the North, now a Special Economic Zone / Desolate Wasteland.

Two sacraments in one day? Yes, it is possible. I’ll have photos.

This is why we need to use Lorem Ipsum. As for me, I try to figure out what the client’s company does, and I write some related dummy copy for them. It’s happened at least once that client liked the copy enough to keep it.

Hmmm, first there was the Martian Face, and now we have Martian Hearts. I wonder whether future photos of Mars will show a “suit of cards” theme (e.g. clubs, spades, diamonds), or be more oriented towards “body parts” (e.g. Martian Hand, Martian Kidneys).

Update: Oh, wait. Stupid me, it was Valentine’s Day. Of course NASA would put out “Martian Hearts” photos. I always forget Valentine’s Day.

Forgotten Holidays

The day before Valentine’s was Ash Wednesday, so most everyone in this Roman Catholic country had ashen crosses drawn on their foreheads at morning Mass. I, however, the freakish Protestant nonconformist, walked with my clean forehead bared to the world!!! BWAHAHA!!!

Anyway, I went to Holland Tulips on Monday to order a bouquet of roses and daisies, to be delivered to *******’s office on the 13th (since the 14th was full already), but we otherwise forgot that it was Valentine’s. No problem, since we don’t put too much stock in Hallmark holidays. Besides, with Pau and Tiff, everyday is Valentine’s Day. (She liked the flowers!)
