    I agree with everything you said. I think the thing that bothers me the most about the term “Podcast” is tie to an Apple iPod.

    1. An iPod is not necessary at all in order to use these audio files.

    2. You do not cast anything in a pod. In “broadcastings” you sent out your message to as ‘broad’ as a group as you can. If anything it should be called Narrowcasting, or something like that.

    Much as it is said that many people have a “face for radio” I have found listening to various Podcasts that a lot of people have “voice for print.”

    I think Chris Pirillo has the best statement on what podcasts are and are not. And even then, the term is slightly misleading because of the implied requirement of an iPod.
