He's been in the US <a href="http://www.uspapalvisit.org/backgrounders/papalvisits.htm" rel="nofollow">quite a few times</a> since then. I remember him in Denver in 1993 and he was last in St. Louis in 1999. And I don't count the visits in 81 and 84 to stop overs in Alaska as "visits" but whatever. psst. first visit to DC since 1979.
