Not a huge baseball fan myself, (my local team back home was the Detroit Tigers, enough said.)

But I cheered on the Sox, for no other reason than it was about time.

Bobber - You can blame my GF's dad for that. He got me into Yankees fandom.

Didn't know that Filippinos liked baseball. Of course basketball is extremely popular there.

Johnny Damon=Snake Plissken. Now that you mention it, that makes sense.

This film was HUGE for me and my brother when we were kids. Any movie featuring Harry Dean Stanton (see _Repo Man_) was required viewing.

It's kind of odd I like this movie so much, because I'm not exactly a John Carpenter fan. I think, too, that corny lines such as "I thought you were dead" and "I'm tired; maybe I'll kill you later" increased the cheese factor.

Other moments of note: Donald Pleasance with 'nuclear fusion' on a high-tech cassette tape. The building with the sign: "LIBERTY ISLAND SECURITY CONTROL." "We telexed Washington." Ernest Borgnine! "God save ME and watch over you all." "They took old junkers that were left behind and converted them to steam." (Heh.) "Fifteen minutes before the last hour is up we can neutralize the charge with X-rays." Lee Van Cleef...I think this film was influenced by spaghetti Westerns, which some people have noted.

Then there's the plane landing on the WTC, which freaks me out a little now.

But Issac Hayes as The Duke steals the movie. I'm still partial to fender-mounted chandeliers.
