Confusion. Are we so kalat that we can’t even get obsequious terror appeasement right? On the other hand, this might be a delaying tactic. “As soon as possible” might just be code for “the original deadline and no sooner,” and as this Scotsman report puts it, “the confusion may have been deliberate.” Not a particularly honest ploy, but hey, if it saves De la Cruz while still honoring our Coalition schedule, it’s a good thing, if a bit unctuous.

(Build your Tagalog vocabulary! Malabo: adj. hazy, blurry, unclear, incoherent. Kalat: adj. messy, or n. mess.)

Update: More from Dean Jorge Bocobo on the influence of the Filipino anti-American far-left on media perception, the challenge before President Gloria, the emboldment of terrorist kidnappers, and the threat now facing Filipino workers in the region if we do cave in to terrorist demands.

Okey sana kung bobo yung mga terrorists. Pero hindi eh

The one BIG problem that I see with that is if the terrorists saw through what GMA is doing and told the RP admin that they will release Angelo only after the RP troops are pull out.

Even if Ate Glo had no intention of doing what the terrorists want her to do, this back-and-forth negotiations is becoming more and more counter-productive habang patagal ng patagal ito.

GMA, sad to say, can’t have it both ways… Get Angelo free and keep commitment in Iraq.

They did that because nakita nila na: a) additional publicity ito sa cause nila and b) there’s actually a good chance that they can get this admin to do what they wanted them to do — an RP troop pullout announcement (propaganda victory for the terrorists) AND actual troop withdrawal.

They NOW know that long drawn out negotiations with this admin has a better-than-good chance of making RP bow down to their wishes.

I feel bad for angelo dela cruz, but mas nakakasuka ang recent announcement ni GMA.

Whatever happens, this is nothing but lose-lose for us.

If only GMA stood firm and made it clear to the terrorists that she will not be cowed. But she is an opportunist (ibang kwento naman yan… mahaba.)

Imagine anong message ang mapupulot niyan ng abu sayyaf at MILF. Not only are pinoys in danger sa iraq, pati sa saudi arabia na rin kung gustong i-destabilize ng al queda ang saudi gov’t (by kidnapping an OFW working in S.A. and asking all the Filipino workers there to leave S.A… eh di babagsak ang ekonomiya ng saudi arabia, diba? at mao-overthrow ng mga bin laden fanatics ang mga saudi royals.)

okey… tapos na ang rant ko.
