Hello. I'm in my uncle's house in Washington, DC, after twenty-one hours of wearying international travel. Manila to Nagoya to Detroit, then a connecting flight to Reagan Airport.

I need some time. I'm in a state of extreme culture shock, and I'm still overwhelmed by the magnitude of the jump I've just taken. I keep saying I'll hit the ground running, but now I realize I don't even know how to walk. More soon.

And then there's the jet lag, I imagine...

Naw, jet lag isn't a problem: I hardly slept the whole time, so I'm exhausted enough now to drop off to bed at just the right hour. Staying awake for 24 hours does wonders for your body clock when travelling. Anyway, I'm really sleeppyyyyyyyy

welcome :o)
hope settling in goes well...

Welcome, Paulo! I was wondering how things were going now that you finally made it to the States. Keep us posted!

take care, ordo! hope you had a good flight. i suddenly feel very glad that you have a blog that keeps us in touch with you while you're gone. isn't technology wonderful!

Thank God you're safe! ^^,

I will celebrate your safe arrival with an unhealthy chunk of cinnamon roll. *slurp* I wish I had low-fat, high-protein snacks like they do in Wawshingtun. You're soooo empowered!

Welcome, Pau, glad you're here safe. Hope the culture shock isn't too bad ...

Glad you had a safe trip. (The minimalist cow thing pops up every now and then. Kind of fits in somehow...) Have a good stay.

Welcome to the States, Paulo! We Okies would find DC a shock to our systems as well. May God Bless! -- John

Something tells me we're going to miss you back here in the Phils. It's a good thing you have the blog. † God bless, and I hope you feel better soon.

Good luck.

If you have any questions about American Culture, you can ask me! I'm an expert! :)

Good luck with everything, hope you enjoy it here.

Bossing, silip ka naman sa PEX o mag-post ka naman.

Goodluck din.

Look me up when you have a weekend free. I visit DC infrequently but it's only 2 1/2 hours away and I'm due a trip to the art galleries and The Smithsonian. Sounds like you're on primo real estate.

Funny you mentioned the Nagoya layover. I had a girlfriend who probably still lives there.
