Dial-Up ARGH!

Maybe it’s just my frustration right now, but words cannot express how inherently pathetic it is to have a country trying to turn itself into a regional leader in Information Technology — when the meager 1% of its population with Internet access can’t even get a decent dialup connection from home.

I’ll let my browser status bar speak for itself:

sloooow connection speed

It just ain’t right.

    I could not agree more.

Whoa. A web page with only 22KB of content? Ouch!

(haha, just kidding, I know what you mean: it’s 4AM and I’m just amusing myself)

  3. Paulo says:

Heh. I need to browse at 4am to get any speed above 1.0KB/sec.

    heh.

the main reason why we split the costs of cable internet :-)

(and i remember the days of super-slow modem speeds… those were painful memories…)

  5. Mike says:

I get 22k a lot, myself — anywhere between 19 and 28k is the norm for me. And this is a 56k modem, too.

A friend of mine did some experimenting with my computer and determined that the problem was almost definitely with my ISP (or, perhaps, the connection software said ISP provided me). I think I’ll be having a few words with my ISP sometime this week…

All hail DSL and Cable Internet, both of which I cannot afford.

(And thanks to Netzero for dirt cheap rates!)
